This project revolved all around salt, and not just salt as a tastemaker, but every aspect salt shares. After doing a lot of research I discovered that salt is more than just a tastemaker or a material. The spiritual aspects of salt were in particular fascinating for me. I discovered how salt can be used for protection, purification and healing. This showed me how salt can be used in a total different and unexpected way.
Nowadays stress and rushing are main topics in life. Students, especially at the WDKA, experience these topics a lot. With this project I wanted to try and reduce these topics using the spiritual aspects of salt.
To do this we wanted to make an experience of taking a salty pause by scrubbing your hands. The experience included relaxing smells, music and space. The whole experience revolves around the system of a school and the relations in them. The target group is students and teachers, the music is a song composed to reduce stress, the places are hidden spaces in the school and the smells are made from orange peel waste from the canteen. This way every aspect of the school is included and connected.
